Ruby Kirby is a multi-media artist who creates interactive fashion pieces/wearable art/costume that involve a variety of techniques and materials. The wearable artworks are celebrations of creativity and imagination that resist demands for seriousness in art.
Her practice encourages a free-thinking approach to make and craft. She makes for collaborative and performative work as well as alternative garments and accessories. The work encourages fun and positive reflections on play and the body and is inspired by surrealist themes and sculptural silhouettes to create humorous and playful interactive pieces that become extensions of the body.
