RUBY KIRBY IS A MULTI-MEDIA DESIGNER WHO CREATES INTERACTIVE FASHION PIECES/WEARABLE ART, INSTALLATION AND COLLABORATIVE PERFORMANCE/FILM.

 

THE AIM OF HER COLOURFUL WORK IS TO HUMOUR, AMUSE AND EXCITE THE AUDIENCE THROUGH INTERACTION AND PERFORMANCE WHILST PORTRAYING STRONG SURREALIST THEMES AND CELEBRATING THE HUMAN BODY.

 

RUBY’S WORK ENCOURAGES CUSTOMISATION AND FREE THINKING THROUGH FUN, EXPRESSIVE ART, FASHION AND INTERACTIVE PERFORMANCES. THE SCULPTURAL SILHOUETTES AND TACTILE SURFACES ARE MADE USING MULTIPLE TECHNIQUES SUCH AS KNIT, CROCHET, HAND STITCH, LEATHER WORK AND BODY CASTING AND MOULDING; USING A VARIETY OF NEW, RECYCLED AND FOUND MATERIALS AND OBJECTS.

 

THROUGHOUT THESE PROCESSES SHE CREATES THE WEARABLE ART AND FASHION GARMENTS AND ACCESSORIES THAT ARE MULTI-FUNCTIONAL AND HAVE MULTIPLE PURPOSES FOR A STIMULATING EXPERIENCE WHEN YOU STEP INTO HER COLOURFUL WORLD SHE CALLS ‘YARNIA’.
